When I first started out with my own blog, it did not cross my mind that one day, I will have to learn how to make my own website. When the time came that I had to build my own website, I asked the rather technical question “How do I make my own website?” This is a question asked by most newbies and this is nothing to be ashamed of even if almost everyone already knows how to build their own website.

So how do I make my own website? That is the question. It turns out that this is a rather nitty gritty process because for one, you have buy your own domain name and once you have done that you would need to get a web host and then finally build the site using the web host’s tools.

The easiest way to create your own website is to work off what is considered a Web 2.0 site. The sites like squidoo.com, blogger.com or LiveJournal.com allow you to create either static or blog based webpages with little or no experience. You get to skip learning HTML and CSS and instead just use a simple "what you see is what you get" interface. The setups look very similar to common Microsoft programs like Word and PowerPoint. By doing this it makes it very easy for an individual to navigate the web development program and create a semi-professional looking website in no time.

The second option to use is a program like WordPress. WordPress is a relatively easy-to-use and easy to install blogging interface that also contains a database backend. WordPress makes professional looking web design easy. Allowing you much more interactivity with your visitors WordPress blogs allow for the addition of plug-ins making it possible for the layman to create a website that has scrolling marquees, a check out, and plenty of other site components. For someone who doesn't feel like spending the money to hire a professional web designer WordPress is the perfect solution.

If you need additional help in setting up either a Web 2.0 website or a WordPress blog it's very easy to look up instructions on YouTube and follow along with the video as someone demonstrates right before your eyes how to get going. These are the two easiest methods get a webpage up and going in no time without spending money to pay a professional or investing hours upon hours of your own time to learn a program like PageMaker or Dreamweaver.

Although lots of people stop upon the creation of their website, you shouldn’t because after publishing your website, you would need to promote it. This is important because how will people know that your website actually exists if you do not tell them about it?

Website promotion is as important as wonderful content and since this is important you should learn or study up on website promotion. You can learn new strategies on how to promote your website and this includes linking and link wheeling and lots of other methods.
